Raise a Smile Hostel Berlin: Terms and Conditions
General Terms and Conditions
Here at the Raise a Smile Hostel Berlin we try to be as relaxed as possible and therefore don't like to have too many rules. However, we also want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable time here. So, with that in mind, here are our simple house rules:
Let us know your approximate arrival time - We ask that guests let us know roughly when they will arrive as it helps us to make sure we have enough staff ready to greet you when you get here. It also helps us to plan whether or not we can do any activities with the hostel that day. Also, if you arrive at 6am without telling us there is a good chance our member of staff will still be asleep!
No groups bigger than 3 - One of the main purposes of our hostel is to allow travelers to meet one another. We love single travelers as they are usually sociable and enjoy getting to know their fellow backpackers. Unfortunately, people who travel in large groups often can't make the most of our social atmosphere. :(
No bookings for less than 2 nights - We want to make as much money as possible for our charity, Raise a Smile, so we decided not to accept bookings of just one night since they don't make economic sense.
No stag parties, hen parties or crazy party animals! - Since our hostel is a relaxed place in a residential flat, people who are just visiting Berlin to party like mad probably won't enjoy our hostel as much. Not to mention that our staff don't enjoy cleaning up vomit and our other guests don't enjoy its smell!
Cancellation Policy
If you do have to cancel for any reason please give us as much notice as possible! The more notice you give us the higher the chances are that we can re-sell your bed. We are a very small hostel so each cancellation made at short notice can make a big impact on the profit of our hostel and therefore our charity!
Our cancellation policy is pretty simple. We just have 2 conditions...
If you cancel later than 12:00 (mid-day), 2 full days before you are due to arrive, then we will charge you the first night of your booking.
If you do not inform us that you are canceling and simply do not turn up to the hostel then we will charge you the full balance of your booking.
Yes we know. nobody wants to pay for nights in a hostel that they didn't stay in, but these charges save our hostel from going out of business and at least you know that the full value of the cancellation charge will be given as a donation to Raise a Smile to help underprivileged children in Zambia :)
On special occasions such as around New Years Eve or Easter we may change our cancellation policy, so look out for that on our booking page.
