Raise a Smile Hostel Berlin: About The Hostel
A little bit of Africa in the heart of East Berlin...
The Raise a Smile hostel in Berlin was opened in December 2009 by members of the charity Raise a Smile in order to raise funds to support school and orphanage projects in Zambia.
The hostel has a Zambian theme so you can experience a bit of Africa in the heart of East Berlin! Come and stay in our Elephant double room, Giraffe double room, Big Cat six-bed dorm or Zebra eight-bed dorm.
We have created a small homely backpacker style hostel for travellers designed to try and encourage social interaction between guests. We hope when you leave you will have met many other travellers and backpackers (and new friends) from around the World.
We live in a reasonably quiet neighbourhood in Eastern Berlin and so do not allow hen or stag parties or groups bigger than 3. We encourage a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the hostel where people can share tales of their adventures in Berlin over a quiet drink. We are not the kind of hostel to stay in if you are looking for a 24 hour party place.
As well as leaving Berlin with great memories of the people and places you have got to know you can also leave with the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped underprivileged children in Zambia as 100% of all profits from the hostel are donated to Raise a Smile - The Zambian Children's Charity.
